May 2002 at the Whataburger
May's meeting at the Whataburger was well attended with moderate temperatures and blue skies. The star of the show had to be Carlos Forte's anchors away USS Twingle as shown it the top photo. This is a Sears Twingle with an expertly home made boat-style side hack. Jim Downey rode his 1950 Sunbeam and Jim Arrington got his BSA 650 back on the road. Check out the clubman bars on the BSA. Jim says they go this weekend (apparently they look better than they ride). Jim's Daughter rode her new Ducati Monster (hold on!). Mike Thomason rode his Jawa (sorry photo did not turn out) and Karsten Riebesel got his R60/6 BMW running. There were several Honda fours, a 550 and a 750 as well as a 750K. Mitchell Martin and Frank Ford wimped out and rode their new Harleys, an Electroglide Classic and a Road King, respectively. The spring gnats were ferocious and when a leopard-finished sport bike showed up, someone said he needed to get a flea collar for it. Wallace Harris rode his Moto Guzzi Eldorado and Bill Connell his Ridley. Finally there was a very tricky Yamaha x650 (I think) who's owner's name I did not get.
