Fort Conde 2014

We had a cold spell in October with some crisp days following each cold front. As Luck would have it a cold front came through on Halloween evening and by Saturday it was downright cold and very windy. Although Sunday was forecast as clear it also was to continue cold with lows in the 40ís and highs limited to the low 60ís. Not bad for hunting perhaps but mighty crisp for motorcycling. Rick Moritz was among the first to arrive from Dauphin Island on his Sportster and he looked frozen. Shortly thereafter Philip Colquette arrived on his R75/5 BMW all the way from Baldwin County, again looking pretty much like a popsicle. But as we setup the site the wind stayed calm and the temperature steadily rose so that by noon we had shed our coats and were all in shirt sleeves with bright sunny skies. Those who stayed home due to the weather missed a great day.

We had 41 motorcycles entered in 12 classes. That was a low turnout but, considering the weather forecast, not unexpected. The Hot dog man provided hot dogs and polish sausage sandwiches which were fine. Beverly Moritz and Chris Conover handled the registration. The winners are listed below. I tried to take a picture of all of the bikes and you can view them in the gallery.
